Australia awards are the most prestigious Government scholarships in Australia. The Department of Foriegn Affairs and Trade (DFAT) offers this scholarship under the development policy of the Australian Government. Furthermore, this scholarship is for developing countries. These countries include Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Pakistan, Thailand, Myanmar, Philippines etc. Almost 27 countries fall under this scholarship. The big name India is not in the list.   • Scholarship amount: It depends. But most of the cases it covers full course tuition fees, living costs and sometimes return air tickets to home country as well.
  • Scholarship available courses: Mostly all courses including Certificate, Diploma, Bachelors and Masters level.

How to apply for an Australia awards scholarship?

Before applying, please make sure you meet the criteria. IELTS score must be 6.5 not less than 6. And the priority sectors for the scholarships are Education, Gender equality, Health etc. These priority sectors are changing. You can visit the participating countries page for the details. Also make sure that you read the Australia awards scholarships policy handbook. 

After going through all these, you can now apply online for an Australia awards scholarship through the OASIS (Online Australia Scholarships Information Systems). Get registered there and fill in the details. You can also save your application as a draft until the deadline crosses. When ready, submit your application. Once you submit your application, you can not edit or withdraw it.

Destination Australia scholarships.

Destination Australia scholarships are for those students who are seeking their education in Australia’s remote areas. Students from the major cities like Sydney, Perth, Canberra, Melbourne will not get this scholarship. Check the Destination Australia scholarships providers list. 

  • Scholarship amount: AUD 15,000 per year for a maximum of 4 years.
  • Scholarship available courses: Certificate IV, Diploma, Bachelors and Masters degree
  • Unlike in Australia Awards scholarship all countries applicants may apply for a Destination Australia scholarship.

How to apply for a Destination Australia scholarship?

You can directly apply to a Destination Australia scholarship through the education providers. Check the Destination Australia scholarship providers list and get enrolled there and also apply for the scholarship.
